    Filihok's Player Valuation Worksheet

So I did a lot of (sims) work in the defense thread to try and figure out how defense works, so I went ahead and tried to figure out how offense works as well and how they work together.

This is what I came up with.

It's a spread sheet that attempts to use player ratings to measure their wins. I've played around with it and got some decent (not perfect) results and figured I'd share it.

    It's pretty easy to use.

Select the appropriate columns in Sortable Stats. Copy. Paste.
Not quite that easy. Then you have to adjust formula in the row below the blue row that says 'Weighted Average' so that it includes ALL the players who appeared in a game the previous season. This will give you the average player from which the calculations are based.

Next you have to manually type those values into the blue 'Weighted Average' row. This allows you to sort the players and not F-up the calculations.

There's a sheet for each position since each position is affected differently by the defensive ratings. I've also put in a wOBA calc and a Runs/Game calc that I use.

Hey Fili, what exactly are the numbers in the 'weighted average (of all players who appeared in majors)' [row 4]? There isn't any formula there, just a number. Is it from this?

If true, doesn't that mean the average ratings from that sim and mine could be different? Thanks again Fili.

You have to enter them manually so it doesn't change the value when you sort.

If there is an more Excel-ent way to do this, let me know.
